String Theory is a guitar, tenor guitar and bass trio from the Toronto area that focuses on the musical era of the 1930's and 40's when melodic jazz was king.

The band consists of Ed Hornyak (tenor guitar/vocals), Ian Chamberlain (guitar) and Rizaldo Padilla (bass). Since their formation in 2006, the band has played over 100 shows in venues such as the Press Club, Gate 403, The Tranzac, The Gladstone as well as a number of private functions and festivals throughout Toronto and the Niagara Regions. They have also been featured as part of Jaymz Bee's jazz.fm safari tours and the 2009 Toronto International Jazz Festival.

Their repertoire draws on the music of the 1930's and 40's and includes a mixture of the familiar and not so familiar tunes of that era reaching into the catalogs of early jazz and swing, ragtime, western swing and standards.

Equally at home in a nightclub or an afternoon garden party, String Theory will provide the perfect musical compliment to any occasion. Please check out the rest of our website which includes pictures, MP3 samples, brief bios, contact information and of course, where we play next! Currently we play every 3rd Thursday of the month at GATE 403 in Toronto.
